The Opportunity
Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as thePRIME MEAL Subject Matter Expert (Spanish speaker) in the UK (London or Remote) or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office worldwide.
Role Purpose:
SCI is undergoing significant transformation across a number of core business processes, systems, and structures, through the implementation of a number of High Performing Organization Change Projects. PPM PRIME is one of these large change project that aims to improve:
- Project management (through developing & rolling out a standard project management methodology with support tools & business processes),
- Project information management (through rolling out an IT platform – PRIME- that will hold Project Information, Monitoring & Evaluation, and Reporting & Analysis functionality); and
- Learning & Development for Project Managers (through developing standard JDs & improving recruitment, induction, onboarding, and development of Project Managers)
The project will support proactive and timely management of programs and significantly increase the accessibility of information about Save the Children’s program achievements, resulting in increased efficiency and effectiveness and a culture of evidence-based knowledge, learning and action on what works best for children.
MEAL is embedded within the Program/Project Management methodology, and PRIME acts at the system level to capture, analyse, and report this information. The MEAL SME will support the PM PQI Lead in providing MEAL experience to both the Methodology & PRIME system, to contribute overall to their successful development, deployment to all offices, and adopted by the business. Using sound experience of MEAL procedures, program delivery, and other MEAL requirements, the role will work closely with the PQI Lead to ensure there is adequate MEAL expertise and input to support the appropriate rollout of the project.
The Project MEAL SME main focus will be to ensure that the PDQ and MEAL components developed in PRIME are deployed to the organisation. Given that the methodology and system have a significant impact on the business, the role will engage heavily with the business, across all levels, to ensure that these are successfully deployed & used.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Substantial Monitoring and Evaluation (preferably with MIS experience), including working within a complex matrixed organisation ideally in both development and emergency contexts.
- Strong practical experience in project/program monitoring and evaluation (preferably field-based)
- Experience working with multiple countries and/or organization headquarter units on PDQ and MEAL related areas
- Knowledge of and experience with a range of MEAL database tools and systems
- Substantial Training and capacity building experience preferable in MEAL:
- Strong practical experience in developing training material for multinational use through a scalable approach such online videos and materials that can be disseminated widely
- Strong skills for delivering trainings in person or through online webinars to small and large groups of participants from representing a variety of cultural and technical contexts
- Experience in using IT to support MEAL objectives within countries & field locations
- Experience in the deployment of MEAL IT systems (applications or tools), in particular to field offices in developing countries
- Experience is delivering change (processes, systems, tools, etc) within a function, project, business
- Experience in using IT products (system / tools) to support MEAL objectives - including data collection, data management, data analysis, and reporting
- Experience in strengthening the demand for data and facilitating the use of information in the decision-making process at different levels – from the field project and programmatic level up to the national level
- Demonstrable success in public speaking, and delivering trainings and workshops
- Cultural awareness, with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
- Willingness to adapt to different time zone requirements to accommodate for countries and teams located in different regions of the world
- Willingness to travel to deployment countries (varying, but expected to be 20% of time)

We can offer circa £46,500 per annum (If based in the UK) with an option of flexible working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National Terms & Conditions (including pay and benefits) will apply.
This role can be based in the UK (London or Remote) or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location for the duration of the contract.
