The Opportunity
Save the Children International has an exciting internal opportunity for you to join the Humanitarian Team in the Centre as the Project & Design Lead, OHT Future State. Open to internal Save the Children International employees and Save the Children member office employees only.
Role Purpose:
Humanitarian action is central to Save the Children’s mission to ensure that all children, including children living in communities affected by conflict, natural disaster or impacts of climate change survive, learn and are protected. To enable the Movement to deliver on our ambitious 2030 goals for children, and following on earlier successful efforts of centralising humanitarian capabilities globally, in 2020 SCI and the Members committed to setting up the One Humanitarian Team.
At the time of writing, the One Humanitarian Team has been operational for a year. The purpose of this role is to lead the critical setup and kick-off activities for the solidification of the operating platform, building on learnings from the first year of operation; and ensure that the operating model is configured in a way that it best serves the humanitarian principles and the goals outlined within our Save the Children Humanitarian Plan.
This role will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of OHT future state based on our vision, ensuring it remains on track to deliver on agreed outcomes and course correcting as necessary. The post holder will be expected to influence other areas of the organisation to deliver without direct authority and to facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and coordination. In addition, given the global nature of the project, s/he will play a critical role in stakeholder management across Members and SCI, and will be expected to steer change management and communication-based activities. A passion for cross-functional working, problem-solving and “can do” attitude is key.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience leading large and complex transformation projects
- Demonstrated experience working with global stakeholders across different levels of the organisation from a broad range of contexts
- Experience of industry project management standards and holding project management teams accountable to those standards
- Demonstrable experience of acting as a ‘business partner’ to functional areas e.g. Supply Chain, Finance etc.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with high levels of change and quick turnaround times, whilst delivering to the highest standards
- Ability to resolve complex project issues, with a balance of pragmatism and rigour
- Experience setting up new initiatives including initial scoping and business cases
- Experience setting up and working with project governance structures
- Experience delivering interventions to support the resolution of issues
- Experience engaging with complex stakeholder groups and leading engagements with key governance bodies
- Commitment to Save the Children values
Desirable:
- Non-profit sector knowledge/experience
- Proficiency in a second core language of Save the Children (French, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic
We can offer the option of flexible working hours.
This role can be based in the UK (London or Remote) or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location for the duration of the contract.
