Kenya celebrates 100 years of impacting children

Save the Children Kenya Country Office held celebrations with partners, donors, government officials and beneficiaries including children to celebrate 100 years. The event themed “100 years of impacting children” was attended by over 100 guests and officiated by the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Ministry of Labour & Social Protection- Hon. Abdul Bahari Ali‏. In his remarks Hon Bahari talked fondly about his Ministry’s relationship with Save the Children, and the work over the years to protect children’s rights.

Pneumonia: The forgotten child killer

At the Lodwar County and Referral Hospital (LCRH) in Northern Kenya, Emanman, 8, and his siblings are receiving treatment in the in-patient ward. It is a hot day and a dusty breeze hits the open window into the ward that they share with other patients. His siblings Achuka, 2, and Alice who is 4 months old have all been diagnosed with pneumonia.

Wajir tackles measles outbreak as rainy season approaches

Two months ago, 35-year-old Nunai Farit developed a fever coupled with a dry cough and a running nose. Her family thought it was an asthma attack and contacted a community health worker.

Unfortunately, the health worker could not do much and the mother of five died two days later. She was buried at a community cemetery at her rural home in Mau Mau.
