Mandera County has a high fertility rate of 5.2. According to statistics by the World Health Organisation, adolescent girls aged 14 to 19 years are two to three times more likely to die in pregnancy and child birth than older women. Yet cultural and religious barriers prevent the young girls from discussing and accessing reproductive health information, education and services.

Meet Baby McKline: a special delivery from Save the Children and GSK partnership

Baby MacKleanMckline is a special little boy. Almost two years old, he lives in Bungoma, Kenya with his parents Catherine and Fredrick. They are already saving for his education and have ambitions for him to be an engineer one day.

Mckline was the first baby born at a healthcare facility in Bungoma County, Kenya, which is supported through the GSK partnership with Save the Children to help save children’s lives.
