Humanitarian Fund Data & Reporting Manager

 

The Opportunity 

 

Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the Humanitarian Fund Data & Reporting Manager in Centre - London, UK or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office worldwide. 

 

Role Purpose:  

The Humanitarian Fund (HF) was created in 2021 to channel in a fast and efficient way flexible funds to humanitarian responses and to anticipatory action initiatives to decrease the impact of emerging crises. The HF replaced the Global Central Fund (GCF) for COVID-19, and Children’s Emergency Seed Fund (CSF) and where possible, other flexible pooled appeals contributed by Members, becoming the sole humanitarian flexible fund across Save the Children.  

  

The Humanitarian Fund Data & Reporting Manager is responsible for the overall reporting and accountability cycle, developing and implementing processes to ensure reliable HF related data is permanently available, strengthening data quality and timely flow of information and ensuring that data analysis is tailored to support internal decision-making and external engagement. S/he coordinates the development of all HF information products for internal and external use, and develops analysis using global trends and/or data/analysis from other Humanitarian teams. The role will also design and roll-out a function to monitor the use of funds by receiving countries, by developing innovative approaches that support the increase of accountability on the strategic use of funds, while keeping at its core the principle of flexibility.  

  

S/he will directly manage a Humanitarian Fund Reporting Officer, who will support with data quality checks, data analysis and the development of HF products. The Data & Reporting Manager will work closely with the HF Portfolio Manager to align with the application and monitoring components and making sure the HF systematically collects data that can be used to inform broader analysis.  

  

The HF enables Save the Children’s movement and specially country offices (COs) to plan, prepare for and deliver high quality humanitarian action for children when it is needed most and increase the visibility and transparency around decision-making. The HF managed $54 million in 2021, significantly increasing to a $200 million portfolio in 2022. 

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 

  • Higher level education degree, Masters or above, in a relevant field 

  • Good financial literacy and analysis and experience conveying this in user-friendly messaging 

  • Proven project management experience in a humanitarian information and communications capacity 

  • Experience with monitoring, reporting and evaluations, especially with systems set-up at a global or regional level 

  • Experience analysing large amounts (multi- year and multi-country) of data 

  • Experience working in information management, communications or knowledge management 

  • Understanding of the project cycle, and understanding of operations and programming 

  • Demonstrated success in setting up new processes and ways of working specially with cross-functional groups 

  • Good understanding of global humanitarian work / policies / strategies with working knowledge of humanitarian affairs 

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to motivate and influence 

  • Proven ability to distil complex information and data into digestible and inspiring messages for diverse audiences 

  • Outstanding planning and organisational skills, with an ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple demands and competing priorities while maintaining high-quality standards 

  • Significant ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt work plans flexibly depending on external opportunities 

  • Experience with award management policies, procedures and systems and Save the Children’s award management system (AMS) 

  • Very strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, and ability to analyse trends 

  • Computer literate (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, design programs) 

  • Cultural awareness and ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people 

  • Patient, adaptable, able to improvise, and communicate clearly and effectively under pressure 

  • Strong communication (written and spoken) in English, and strong interpersonal skills, with experience in managing multicultural teams 

  • Think creatively and strategically to overcome obstacles to cooperation and progress 

 

We can offer circa £45,000 per annum (If based in UK) with an option of flexible working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National T&C (including pay) will apply. 

This role can be based in London or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location.
