Global Digital New Markets Specialist

The Opportunity

Save the Children International has an exciting internal opportunity for you to join the Resource Mobilisation, Communications & Engagement team in the Centre as the Global Digital New Markets Specialist. Open to internal Save the Children International employees and Save the Children member office employees only.

Role Purpose:

Save the Children is developing a globally integrated digital campaign based approach as well as growing our supporter giving through digital channels as main priorities in the current strategy.

We have identified that most of the markets with the highest growth potential are in Asia, Europe and the Middle East and we are seeking to increase our team’s expertise in that area as well as fulfilling a key global remit.

The roles sits in the Digital Fundraising Unit within the Digital Public Engagement Team, an agile team, already working virtually before the pandemic, which provides strategic support and specialist technical guidance to our 27+ Members, most of them in Asia, Oceania, Europe and the Americas. This team also focuses on reaching out to new audiences and engaging with them in non-member markets with a special focus on a list of key markets.

This person will play a primary role in developing our global digital fundraising activity, influencing campaigns and engagement program in markets where Save the Children does not have a Member presence/office, many of them in Eastern Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

As the New Markets Specialist, you will have an exciting role leading two positions working for the New Markets team: the Digital Acquisition Manager and the Donor Development Manager. Also a key role supporting Member offices by developing best practices from the testing done in non-member market.

This is a strategic and hands on, collaborative role. The Global Digital New Markets Specialist will oversee the development of both strategy and implementation plans and provide clear direction and management to supporting team members.

The post holder works collaboratively with other roles within the Digital Comms Unit, Fundraising Hub, Content Hub, Comms and Data analysis group as well as the Transformation Delivery Department, Legal, Regional and Country offices.

In order to be successful, you will bring/have:

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience in implementing digital marketing/fundraising programs with specific Fundraising KPIs to achieve (ideally within an international NGO), and at least 1 year experience at the international level, especially in Europe, the Middle East and/or Asia.
  • Proven success in growing a digital fundraising or ecommerce program from a small base of revenue to meet ambitious financial targets.
  • Solid understanding and hands on experience developing digital acquisition and donor development email marketing journeys using a marketing automation tool.
  • Experience managing the digital aspects of global integrated campaigns.
  • Experience managing agency partners and other vendors.
  • Solid understanding and experience of developing and optimizing supporter/customer journeys landing pages and websites.
  • Solid understanding and experience with digital customer/donor development and retention.
  • Solid understanding of web (in particular Google Analytics) and CRM analytics for testing and optimization.
  • Solid understanding of digital payment systems and market restrictions or challenges.
  • Technical expertise to understand technical digital marketing issues together with the ability to explain them using terms a non-specialist can clearly understand.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, planning and performance management of digital fundraising/marketing
  • Proven project management skills delivering complex projects on time and on budget with a strong knowledge of all the financial aspects of digital fundraising/marketing including analysis of costs/income, ROI, conversion and attrition data and all other relevant KPIs.
  • Strong personal, organisational and self-management skills, with an ability to work in a distributed team.
  • A self-starter using initiative to an entrepreneurial spirit to see and deliver on opportunities.
  • Capacity to build and maintain excellent relations and to work effectively in a multicultural and multi-ethnic environment respecting diversity, working with a diverse range of seniority levels and geographic markets
  • Ability to think critically, objectively, analytically and strategically, solve problems quickly.
  • A positive, assertive and persuasive personality.
  • Ability to articulate the work of Save the Children with passion
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal. Fluent in English with excellent writing and speaking mandatory, additional language skills such as Spanish would be an asset.
  • Strong IT skills particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Willing to travel to support needs of the role as required.

Desirable:

  • Solid understanding of data protection and fundraising laws in different countries
  • Power BI knowledge
  • Solid understanding and hands on experience of major digital fundraising disciplines (Paid Search, Paid Social, Display, Email, Mobile, Programmatic and telemarketing)

We can offer circa £60,500 per annum (If based in UK) with an option of flexible working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National T&C (including pay) will apply.

This role can be based in London or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location.
