Child Safeguarding:
Level 3: The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Consortium Communications Manager supports Education Cannot Wait Multi Year Resilience Program Consortium’s internal and external communications needs, and provides institutional learning and administrative support. S/he is responsible for leading production of communications materials used for resource mobilization as well as understanding donor visibility requirements and ensuring those are met. This may be facilitated by the creation of consortium-wide templates for common items. S/he will work closely with the MEAL Manager and ensures that complex information is disseminated to partners in a consistent, timely, concise and compelling manner (including meeting minutes, lessons learned, dashboards, case studies, donor briefs, etc.) and external actors (including social media publications and press releases). The Communications Officer also helps prepare the narrative donor reports and track down missing information with/from partners.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Communication:
- Produce an annual communications plan for the program in consultation with all consortium partners.
- Oversee the development of tools, guidelines and templates to aid implementation of the communications plan.
- Support the development and presentation of contents in articles, stories, strategic statements, sitreps, photos, messaging, fact sheets and multimedia for the program’s key audience – internally and externally.
- Ensure the branding and communications guidelines of donors and partners are consistent across program interventions.
- Lead on information and communication flows between all consortium members, donors, Regional Offices and individual Save the Children members.
- Lead on developing and implementing effective ways of communicating lessons learnt, good practices, evidences of changes and use them to influence policy and practice changes with various stakeholders including communities, partners, donors, government etc.
- Manage the production of compelling photo stories, case studies, audio-visual materials from the field to highlight project activities, including commissioning of photography and film when required.
- Identify international and national moments to highlight humanitarian needs and situation in Sudan.
- Lead on organizing communication events ie. Program launch.
- Develop a capacity-building strategy and carry out staff training and workshops across teams and field offices to promote the communications strategy and the development of high-quality communications products.
Media:
- Identify media issues, prepare media messages, talking points, Q&A’s, assess appropriate media for communicating those messages and facilitate the process of disseminating/communicating those messages after securing the required signoff.
- When needed draft press releases and media briefs.
- Track and monitor interviews and media coverage related to the program.
- As appropriate establish proactive and beneficial relationship with media outlets that can help engage in issues related to the program.
- When needed organize media events including press conferences.
Supporting advocacy work
- Support various thematic teams in identifying opportunities for advocacy, key targets, messages and channels.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- At least 4 years’ experience in communication, media or relevant field.
- Master Degree in one or more of the following: Journalism, Media Studies or Communications is highly desired.
- Demonstrable ability to develop a communications strategy and manage the production of effective communications across a range of channels.
- Excellent written and oral skills in English and Arabic, with the ability to communicate with a range of audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to lead manage and work effectively within a team environment and across departments.
- Proven ability to draw up and manage an annual budget and work within budgetary constraints, ensuring best use of Save the Children’s resources at all times.
